The Power of the Waves

Who we are

JOSPA Ltd. was registered in September 2008 to develop the Irish Tube Compressor technology and make it available to generate sustainable electricity. Joss Fitzsimons is Technical Director and Patrick Duffy Managing Director.

Joss Fitzsimons BE (U.C.D.)  Joss graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Following a period as Development Engineer for Cadbury, Joss has worked as Engineering Manager, Technical Director, and R&D Manager with Moy Insulation. This entailed a high annual R&D spend and activity by Irish standards and included the construction of a completely new plant with different technology, and a very successful EU energy-saving recycling plant that has now been replicated throughout the EU.

He redesigned and shipped a non-wovens plant from the UK to add to Moy’s manufacturing base, and with this made major contributions to product development and manufacturing throughput for multinational BPB when it acquired Moy. He has subsequently been an engineering consultant, working in Ireland and the U.K.  He has wide experience in process and chemical engineering and patents. More than once he has entered a new industrial sector and quickly surpassed the incumbents in expertise. Apart from skills in mechanical engineering, he can evidence considerable chemistry and controls skills.

Patrick Duffy BE (U.C.D.
) Patrick graduated in Electrical Engineering. Fulbright scholarship Berkeley California in Economics & Marketing. As M.D. of Moy Insulation Patrick was responsible for building this fledgling industry into one of Ireland’s heavy industries. At its height he was responsible for 3 manufacturing plants of different kinds in Ireland and sales offices and operations in the UK, France, Belgium, NL and Germany. Has negotiated some 10 knowhow and manufacturing licences (both buying and selling). Was a Director of INPC for a period (refinery and SPM with storage). He has wide marketing and management experience, has worked in a number of countries and has brought small startups into production in UK & Ireland. In recent years he has consulted in management and marketing for Irish, UK, a US and a French company and founded an energy software company that operates in energy management training.

John Duffy BE (U.C.D.) . John graduated in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. Assistant site engineer construction of the U.K’s first nuclear power station at Berkeley. Site engineer (i.c. of construction) for many of the current ESB power stations – Bellacorick, Great Island, Tarbert, Marina, Poolbeg, Pigeonhouse, approx. 1600MW in all. Became successively Chief Operations Officer, Director of Generation & Transmission, and Director of Corporate Strategy and Technology of ESB ( Ireland’s national electricity company). Achievements included a major successful revamp of the ICT area, and advanced maintenance management leadership. Chaired and/or contributed to international electricity organizations such as EURELECTRIC, UNIPEDE, CIGRE.

The promoters have wide experience in engineering, general management, marketing and project management. Joss has been involved in the patenting of a ‘brander’, a special glass tissue for manufacture of paperless & fire proof gypsum board, the first nonwoven sailcloth, and the graphite glide oven (which permits virtually zero wear, no rollers, low drive energy and high speed production in hostile conditions). Joss and Patrick have jointly patented the "watertipper"– also part of this website - , and Patrick has patented an electronic device that was sold in B&Q until recently, a wall tie, and a lintel insulation system.
